Hamas, or the Islamic Resistance Movement, Monday accused Gaza-based leaders of President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement of being involved in recent bombings against Hamas targets.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said Fatah leaders who were involved in recent Gaza explosions were "encouraging the mercenaries to go on with their crimes."

Last week, at least three explosions rocked Hamas patrols and a fourth resulted in the death of four Fatah members whom Hamas accused of trying to park a car bomb but the explosives went off ahead of schedule.

Zakareia al-Agha of Fatah said on Sunday that his movement " understands the objective circumstances which pushed some people to carry out these bombings."

Abu Zuhri said that al-Agha's statements were showing " involvement of Fatah leaders in the explosions and encouraging the mercenaries to go on with their crimes."

He vowed that his movement will forcibly "respond to these groups and everyone standing behind them," calling on the factions "to specify their stance towards these bombings and statements."

Meanwhile, Ibraheem Abu al-Najja, a Fatah leader from Gaza, has rejected Hamas accusations. "We refuse to implicate Fatah movement in these bombings."

Abu al-Najja considered the bombings "a chance for some people to play in the Palestinian internal field." He also called for revealing those who are behind the attacks.
