Ukranian President Viktor Yushchenko Monday asked parties in the new parliament to offer proposals for a coalition government and a new prime minister over the next five days.
Yushchenko asked his "orange" ally and rivals from the Regions Party led by his rival, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, to start consultations and political talks to offer proposals on forming a new coalition government as well as a new prime minister within the week.
"I call on all political sides to start consultations and political talks and to produce proposals on both a coalition and a prime minister within five days," Yushchenko said after meeting with five parties which won seats in the polls.
His request follows last week's parliamentary election in which his orange ally parties won a slim majority.
