Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong has urged local relevant agencies to strengthen corruption supervision, intensify officials' awareness on the issue, and improve legal system, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Tuesday.
The Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of Vietnam, the country's top legislature, and the government should intensify their supervision and inspection to prevent corruption, Trong said in a recent interview with the paper.
Besides, it is necessary to improve the awareness and responsibility among party members, officials as well as people in the fight, which requires patience, and drastic actions from the central level to grassroots one, he said.
Agencies in charge of combating corruption have to be reinforced, while legal system should be improved to ensure it comprehensive, scientific and feasible, Trong said.
Vietnam should focus its anti-corruption fight on the fields of infrastructure construction, land management, budget spending, public property management and state-owned enterprise equitization, he said.
Vietnam detected 225 corruption cases involving 482 people in the first half of this year, said head of the Government Inspectorate Tran Van Truyen.
The authorities prosecuted 420 people, disciplined 48 others, and reclaimed cash of 8.2 billion VND (512,500 dollars), and 26, 532 square meters of land, he said.
