Two suicide truck bombs detonated separately in the town of Beiji, in Salahudin province in north of Baghdad, on Tuesday, killing at least seven people and wounding more than 19 others, local provincial police source said.
"A suicide truck bomber targeted the house of Beiji's police chief at about 6:00 a.m. (0300 GMT), but he struck his nearby parents' house instead, killing seven people and wounding 19 others," the source said on condition of anonymity.
The suicide bomber, apparently, targeted the house of Brigadier Sa'ad Nufous, police chief of Beiji, 200 km north of Baghdad, but he failed to reach his heavily fortified house and turned to strike the nearby house of Nufous's parents, the source told Xinhua by telephone.
Meanwhile, the second suicide truck bombing targeted the house of Shiekh Hamad al-Jubouri, head of Beiji's Awakening Council, totally destroying his house, killing and wounding undetermined number of casualty, the source said.
The toll could rise, the source said, adding that the police and rescue teams continue removing the debris looking for more victims.
The U.S. and Iraqi security forces cordoned off the area to secure the scene, he added.
