Two roadside bombs detonated among a gathering of construction workers waiting for daylong jobs in southeastern Baghdad on Tuesday, killing one worker and wounding 11 others, an Interior Ministry source said.
"Two roadside bombs went off in a quick succession at about 6: 40 a.m. (0340 GMT) in a square in Jesr Diyala district, killing a construction worker and wounding 11 others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Some of the wounded workers were in critical condition, the source said.
Late on Monday, gunmen shot dead Shiekh Ibrahim Abdul Kareem, head of the Shiite endowment office in Sadr City neighborhood.
Kareem was attacked while he was driving his car in Baghdad's southeastern neighborhood of Mashtel, the source said.
