A U.S. marine was killed in fighting in Iraq's Anbar province, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.
The soldier, assigned to Multinational Force-West, was killed on Monday during combat operations in western Iraq, the military said in a statement.
The name of the killed soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to about 3,815 since the outbreak of the Iraq war in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
