A car bomb went off at a busy market stall in northeastern Baghdad on Tuesday, killing a civilian and wounding five others, a well-informed police source said.
"A booby-trapped car detonated in the morning at a crowded stall market in the Sha'ab neighborhood, killing a stall vendor and wounding five people," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The blast damaged several nearby stalls and civilian cars, the source said.
Earlier, two roadside bombs went off in a quick succession among a gathering of construction workers waiting for day-long jobs in a square in Jesr Diyala district, killing a construction worker and wounding 11 others, the police said.
Violence continues in Baghdad despite the fact that the U.S. and Iraqi security forces have staged a security plan in the capital since February 14 aimed at putting rampant violence under control.
