A suicide car bomb struck a Kurdish party headquarters near the city of Mosul in the northern province of Nineveh on Wednesday, killing two people and wounding 16 others, a provincial police source said.
"A suicide bomber detonated, this morning, a car rigged with explosives outside the office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the Khorsbat area, 25 km north of Mosul, killing two people and wounding 16," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The deaths included a member of the KDP and a guard, the source said, adding that most of the wounded people were KDP members.
The KDP is headed by Mssoud Barzani, who is also head of the autonomous Kurdish administration in northern Iraq.
Mosul, capital of Nineveh province, is located some 400 km north of Baghdad. The city has been a hotbed of insurgency and violence after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. Source:Xinhua
