A suicide truck bomb detonated at a checkpoint in Salahudin province north of Baghdad on Monday, killing six security members and wounding eight others, a provincial police source said.
A suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden KIA truck into a checkpoint manned by Iraqi police and anti-Qaida tribal militants in Yathrib area near the town of Balad, some 80 km north of Baghdad, and blew it up, the source told media on condition of anonymity.
The attack left six policemen and militants from the Salahudin Awakening Council killed and eight others wounded, including civilians, the source said, adding several civilian cars were also damaged by the attack.
