Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on Wednesday met with visiting Communist Party of Vietnam chief Nong Duc Manh, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
"The talks proceeded in a comradely, sincere and friendly atmosphere," said the KCNA.
The report didn't release any further details about the talks.
On the same day, Kim Jong Il hosted a luncheon in honor of Manhat the Paekhwawon State Guest House.
Manh arrived here Tuesday on a three-day official visit to the DPRK.
High-level officials from both sides have exchanged visits, including visits to the DPRK by late president Ho Chi Minh, late prime minister Pham Van Dong and former president Tran Duc Luong.
The DPRK's late president Kim Il Sung visited Vietnam twice and Prime Minister Kim Yong Il is scheduled to pay an official visit to Vietnam by the end of this month.
Vietnam and the DPRK have signed a number of cooperation agreements in sectors like culture, science and technology, trade and medical assistance.
