A bus crash in El Salvador Wednesday left at least seven people dead and over 60 others injured, according to news from the Central American country.

The accident occurred early in the morning on the highway linking the capital city San Salvador and Santa Ana, a city 60 km to the west, local police said.

The bus transporting employees from the American Park duty-free zone crashed into a hill. The driver was apparently speeding at 140 km per hour, police said.

El Salvador's Red Cross spokesman Carlos Lopez Mendoza said 31 of the injured were sent to the San Juan de Dios hospital, while the remaining casualties were transferred to other hospitals in Santa Ana.

American Park's manager Roberto Torres said the bus does not belong to the industrial zone.
