Philippine police chief said on Monday investigators had not detected any trace of the main component of C-4 military grade plastic explosive from the ruins in a downtown shopping mall in Metro Manila, where a powerful blast killed 11 last Friday.
The swabbing done by US Federal Bureau of Investigation and American demolitions experts yielded negative results for RDX, a key component for C-4, the national newspaper The Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted Gen. Avelino Razon Jr as saying.
Police Director Geary Barias, chief of the Metro Manila police, said that up to this point, no bomb components -- including timing devices, power sources, initiators, switches, and containers -- have been recovered from the rubble of the explosion.
Last Friday, a powerful blast rocked Glorietta 2, one of the most modern-day shopping malls in the Philippines, killing 11 people and injuring scores of others.
Police previously said the explosion probably originated from the ground floor or the basement and it was likely to be initiated by certain terrorists or anti-govern rebel groups.
