About 49 percent of French people have said they approve the use of DNA tests for immigrants wishing to join family members in France, while 43 percent are against them, according to a survey conducted by the French media watch-dog (CSA) and published Tuesday by Le Parisien daily newspaper.
According to the survey, 49 percent of those interviewed reckon the use of DNA testing "is a good thing because it will prove that immigrants wishing to join their family members belong to the same family."
Forty-three percent however believe the tests are "a bad thing because they go against the values of the French society." Eight percent did not give any opinion.
