The United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed here Tuesday signed a series of cooperation protocols with Germany and Iraq to help Iraqi Armed Forces, the official Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The protocols are in line with the basic agreements concluded earlier with the parties in regard to providing training assistance and equipment to the Iraqi Armed Forces, WAM said, adding it is part of UAE support to the Iraqi people to overcome their current mayhem so as to contribute in maintaining security and stability.
Earlier in the day, German Minister of Defense Franz Josef Jung, who is on a current visit to UAE as part of his regional tour, held talks with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed cooperation in the military and defense fields between Germany and the UAE, particularly in regard to training programs, coordination and exchange of expertise in a way that serves common interest, according to WAM.
The pair also reviewed a number of security issues in regard to boosting of security and stability in the region, stressing the need for international cooperation in this respect, WAM said.
