A high-level U.S. and Russian working group will meet in Washington in November to discuss the U.S. missile defense issue, the chief of the Russian Foreign Ministry's department of North America, Igor Neverov, said on Thursday.
"We are awaiting official proposals from the American side that would be articulated at the meeting in Moscow in the two-plus-two format joined by defense and foreign ministers of the two countries," Neverov was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency as saying.
"At the meeting...the American ministers voiced a number of innovative and bold ideas. Even though this was done at a very high-level, we need formal proposals. We are awaiting them on paper, in writing in order to send them for elaboration," Neverov said.
He said the American side had informed that "these proposals are being prepared."
"We would like to get those proposals before a meeting of the high-level working group on the missile defense issue," Neverov added.
