Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday said that India attaches high priority to its ties with Russia and seeks to further strengthen the multi-faceted relationship, particularly in energy and defense fields.
In a statement before his departure to Moscow for a two-day visit, Singh expressed hope that the Indian Russian relationship based on strong fundamentals and "enduring bond of friendship" would continue to bring the two countries closer in a dynamic international environment.
He said that the strong fundamentals of mutual trust and shared world view on regional and global issues which will continue to bring the two countries closer together in a dynamic international environment.
"Our multi-faceted bilateral operations with Russia are based on long-term interests," said the Indian prime minister.
During his visit, Singh is to hold talks with President Vladimir Putin on a wide range of issues with an aim of fostering closer ties. The two countries are expected to sign a series of agreements, including a pact to jointly produce and manufacture a medium range military transport aircraft. Source: Xinhua
