A strong earthquake measuring 6.0on the Richter scale hit northern Chile Saturday, with no immediate reports on casualties or damage, local media reported
The earthquake struck off the coast of northern Chile at 14:54 local time (17:54 GMT), some 65 km north-northwest of Antofagasta, near Chile's border with Peru, at just 7 km below the surface, the reports quoted the U.S. Geological Service as saying.
The quake came less than a week after a series of powerful earthquakes hit northern Chile, causing injuries and structural damage.
