EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said on Wednesday that he was not expected to meet Iranian nuclear negotiator this week as Iran did not give a date.

"I have been in contact with them. I don't see this week because they have not offered any date. I will be at their disposal this week but it has not been possible," he told reporters.

He said that next week "will be very difficult," as he would take part in an international Middle East conference at Annapolis, the United States.

"I have not got any response yet. I offered any time of this week and it cannot be done," Solana said.

"Let's see how we can find a date soon, but I don't think next week will be easy."

Reports here quoted Solana's spokeswoman Cristina Gallach as saying that the EU side offered to the Iranians different dates before November 25 for a meeting.

Iran's deputy nuclear negotiator Javad Vaidi canceled on Tuesday a meeting, which is slated on Wednesday in Vienna, with Solana's top aide Robert Cooper, citing illness as the reason.

Talks between the deputies was expected to arrange a date and venue for Solana and Iranian top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili.

The EU top diplomat must submit a report on Iran's nuclear program by the end of November the UN Security Council for discussion.

The five permanent Security Council members, Britain, Russia, China, France and the United States, plus Germany, will discuss Solana's report and that of the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) to decide whether to impose further sanctions on Iran or not.
