NATO top civil, military officers visit Afghanistan |

NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and Supreme Allied Commander Gen. John Craddock traveled to Afghanistan Thursday for a two-day visit, said the alliance.
The two men, who are the top civil and military leaders of the alliance, will be updated about the situation in the country by senior commanders of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). They will also meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai and other officials.
The NATO-led ISAF has 41,000 troops in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban and helping with reconstruction. The force faces severe shortages in personnel and equipment.
