Four people, all civilians, were killed as a mine struck their car outside Afghan capital Kabul Monday, a senior police official Zalmai Oryakhil said. "It was around 9 a.m. (0430 GMT) when a car ran over a mine left over from the past wars," Oryakhil told Xinhua.
The incident took place in Charasiab district of Kabul province, some 25 km south of Afghan capital Kabul, he said.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the blast yet. It is the second explosion outside Kabul over the past two days.
In the previous explosion on Sunday, which was described as a Taliban suicide attack, in Paghman district, 20 km west of Kabul city, 10 people including one NATO soldier and nine civilians were killed.
Militancy and conflicts have claimed the lives of more than 5, 800 people so far this year in Afghanistan.
