Air raids by the U.S.-led Coalition force against the suspected hideout of Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan's eastern Nuristan province have claimed the lives of one dozen civilians, provincial governor Tamim Nuristani said Wednesday.
"The U.S.-led Coalition forces in an air strike on Monday night against militants killed 12 workers of a road construction company and injured two others," Nuristani told Xinhua.
All the victims were Afghans, he said.
He said a number of Taliban insurgents were also killed in the air raids, but he could not give exact number.
Nuristani identified the company as local firm "Ameripa", which was building road between Nangraj and Norgam districts.
Neither the U.S. military nor the company's officials were immediately available to make comment.
