An American soldier was killed and three others were injured in a roadside bomb attack in eastern Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
The attack occurred Saturday when the soldiers were on a combatpatrol in the area, the military said in a statement.
The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
The latest death brings the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to more than 3,880 since the U.S.-led invasionin 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
