Three Islamic Hamas militants were killed early on Monday morning by Israeli forces gunfire as they approached the borders between northern Gaza Strip and Israel, medics and Hamas sources said.
Hamas sources said in a leaflet that three of its militants approached the northern area of the Gaza Strip, planted a roadside
bomb, and blew it up near an Israeli army force.
It added that "then the three militants exchanged fire with the
Israeli forces and fought until they were killed." Palestinian ambulances brought the bodies of the three Hamas militants to the hospital on Monday morning.
Israeli Radio reported that Israeli soldiers stationed near the
borders between Gaza and Israel noticed three militants are approaching the area, adding that they immediately opened fire and
directly hit them.
Over night, a fourth Hamas militant was killed and three wounded in Israeli artillery shelling on eastern Gaza City, witnesses and medics said.
The witnesses said that the Israeli artillery shelling has targeted a group belongs to Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades called "the guarding borders unity" near the borders between eastern Gaza City and Israel.
Palestinian medics said that Bassam el-Helou was killed and three wounded, adding all were brought by a Palestinian ministry of health ambulance to Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
Israel has been targeting Hamas militants over the past a few days in Gaza, accusing them for launching homemade rockets from Gaza at Israel. Official figures said that at least 15 Hamas militants were killed since early last week.
The shelling on Hamas militants on Sunday night came shortly after Hamas militants fired several mortar shells at the Nahal Ozz
settlement near the borders between Gaza and Israel.
Israeli Radio quoted Israeli army sources as saying that four Israeli soldiers were hurt by the shrapnel of a mortar shell fired
by Hamas militants at their military base near the settlement.
