A suicide attacker exploded himself Monday afternoon near a group of policemen, killing two policemen and two civilians, in southwestern Afghan Nimruz province, provincial governor said.
Three policemen and four civilians also sustained injuries in the blast which took place in Ghorghory town of Khashrod district, Governor Ghulam Dastagir Azad told Xinhua via phone.
"A suicide bomber walked close to the policemen who were moving near their own vehicle and exploded himself," Azad said.
Taliban purported spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi told Xinhua via phone from unknown location that his outfit took responsibility for the explosion.
Ahmadi said the man named Naqib Alla exploded himself near a police convoy, killing eight policemen.
