Vietnam and Indonesia have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in specific areas, and establish a cooperation mechanism at the United Nations, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Wednesday.
At the second political consultation between Vietnamese and Indonesian foreign ministries in Hanoi on Monday, the two sides discussed ways to promote bilateral ties in agriculture, tourism, oil and gas.
They also touched upon negotiations on delimiting special economic zones and join coordination in settling fishermen's issues.
They were unanimous in promoting bilateral cooperation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and forming a cooperation mechanism at the United Nations when the two countries are non-members of the UN Security Council in 2008.
They agreed that the next consultation meeting will be held in Indonesia next year.
