Increasing Israeli attacks at the Gaza Strip were an indication that a large-scale military operation against the territory was imminent, an Islamic Jihad official said Wednesday.
"The decision to strike Gaza has become clear especially as the Strip was not mentioned on the agenda of Annapolis conference despite the suffering and aggression here," Sheikh Khader Habib told reporters in Gaza.
Two Hamas militants were killed in the morning in Israeli air strike in northern Gaza Strip. Almost every morning, Israeli air force attacks target militants of Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip after taking over the territory by force in June.
Habib, meanwhile, condemned "the doubtful silence that the Araband international community shows regarding the aggressions in Gaza."
Commenting on reports that U.S. President gorge Bush may pay a visit to the region, Habib said such visits "bring no good for the people and their cause."
"They aim at boosting the security of the occupation and opening economical, security and political aspects for the Israeli enemy," he added.
