Afghan troops killed 10 Taliban insurgents as they came in contact with militants in Afghanistan's southern Zabul province Wednesday, an official said.
"Taliban insurgents blocked Kabul-Kandahar highway in Shahjoi district of Zabul province today and government troops rushed to open it," General Abdul Raziq, the commander of government troops in the area, told Xinhua.
"Clash erupted and as a result 10 rebels were killed," Raziq said.
He added that the troops seized 15 motorbikes and some arms and ammunition from insurgents.
There were no casualties on the side of government forces, the official added.
