Highway linking Sudan, Ethiopia inaugurated |

A continental highway linking Sudan and Ethiopia was inaugurated on Thursday by Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir and Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi in eastern Sudan.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Doka town in Gadarif State in eastern Sudan amid a big gathering of the local citizens as well as people from the neighboring Ethiopia, the official SUNA news agency reported.
In his address at the ceremony, the Sudanese president noted that the 156 km-long highway extending from Doka to the Ethiopian town of Matama would further boost the social relations between the two sisterly countries.
Al-Bashir also reiterated his government's keenness on linking all neighboring countries through roads and telecommunications.
The Ethiopian prime minister underlined the importance of roads for boosting relations among peoples, saying that Galabat-Matama highway came as part of the ongoing cooperation between the two countries.
Following the ceremony, the Ethiopian prime minister returned to his country winding up a two-day visit to Sudan. Source: Xinhua
