Prison riot kills 15, injures 12 others in western Venezuela |

A prison riot in western Venezuela killed 15 people and injured 12 others Saturday, Venezuelan Minister of Interior and Justice Pedro Carreno said.
The riot at the Santa Ana prison in Tachira state was sparked by a group of jailed paramilitary members who attacked other prisoners in an attempt to exert power and control over fellow inmates, said the minister.
He said the same paramilitary members are also suspected of killing the governor of the jail, which is already under government control, some four months ago.
The authorities have begun work to identify the dead, local media reported.
