Solomon Islands Opposition ousted Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare Thursday in Parliament through vote of no-confidence 25 to 23, according to local media.
The vote of no-confidence was passed in the 48-member parliament.
The motion was moved by the former Education Minister Derek Sikua who defected from government with eleven other MPs early last month, demanding Sogavare's resignation.
The long-awaited parliamentary sitting got underway this morning after a High Court action launched by Sogavare to delay Parliament was dismissed Wednesday. Source: Xinhua/agencies
