Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe issued a presidential decree on Thursday, announcing the formation of a new government, the state television said.
The new government, with the number of cabinet members slashed from 35 to 21, is headed by new Prime Minister Komlan Mally and includes 13 members from the last cabinet and eight newcomers.
The cabinet came into being two months after the ruling Rally for the Togolese People emerged winner in the Oct. 14 parliamentary elections, garnering 50 seats out of the 81-member parliament.
The 47-year-old Mally is taking over from Yawovi Agboyibo, who resigned on Nov. 13 to pave the way for the formation of a new government. Mally served as Urbanization Minister in the previous government.
In the new cabinet, the number of state ministers was reduced from four to three and there are only two female ministers, compared to the previous five. Source: Xinhua
