Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Barham Ahmed Saleh said here Saturday that his country is keen to deepen ties with Syria in all fields, the official SANA news agency reported.

"This visit comes at very important conditions for Iraq and the Syrian-Iraqi relations," Saleh was quoted as saying upon arrival here for a three-day official visit.

He affirmed that the two brotherly countries are linked by many joint interests, expressing hope that the two sides can extend joint efforts to enhance these relations.

Saleh is the second senior Iraqi official that visited Syria in a week.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari wrapped up a trip here on Wednesday.

He praised Syria's efforts to control their common borders and stop infiltrators from crossing into his war-torn country, saying that the security situation in Iraq was improving.
