India Saturday tested a surface-to-air nuclear capable missile from a defense range in eastern state of Orissa for a third time in three days, defense sources said.
Akash, India's indigenous missile, was tested from a mobile launcher at the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in northeast Orissa at 3:10 p.m. (0930 GMT), hitting a flying target successfully, the Indo-Asian News Service quoted the sources as saying.
The 5.6-m-long missile, which weighs 650 kg and has a range of 25 km, has been developed by the Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
The multi-target medium range missile, capable of carrying a warhead of 50 kg, was also tested from the same range Friday and Thursday as part of an air defense exercise (ADE), defense sources said.
