Colombia extradited 15 suspected drug dealers to the United States on Saturday, bringing to 167 the number of Colombians extradited abroad this year.

According to a police statement, Saturday's extradition was made upon the request of the United States, and the extradited suspects will be tried by U.S. courts.

The statement said that the Colombian government headed by President Alvaro Uribe had extradited a total of 619 Colombians mainly to the United States from August 2002 to this June. Most of them were suspects of drug dealers and guerrilla leaders.
