Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo lauded Sino-Chilean relations on Monday in his meeting with Fernando Meza, visiting vice president of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Chile, calling on the two sides to further boost inter-parliamentary ties.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), highlighted the rapid growth of the bilateral relations, noting the growth had brought concrete benefits to the two countries.

China highly valued its ties with Chile and would make joint efforts to push forward the bilateral, comprehensive and cooperative partnership to a higher level.

Wu also expressed his appreciation to Chile's long-term adherence to the one-China policy.

Regarding inter-parliamentary relations, Wu recognized the intensive exchange and cooperation between the two parliaments which "works positively" to cement the bilateral relations. He expressed the hope that cooperation among the special committees, friendly groups and departments of the two parliaments could further be improved.

Meza said the various political parties in Chile were all very delighted to see the development of Sino-Chilean relations.

Chile admired the economic and social achievements made by China and the Chamber of Deputies would continue to contribute its effort to step up the bilateral relations.
