Uruguay has finished cleaning an oil spill off the coast of the Maldonado province, state-run oil company ANCAP said Sunday.
The authorities will continue to monitor the environmental quality in the affected area, the ANCAP said.
Last Saturday, a Norwegian-flagged tanker spilled oil when unloading on the coast of Jose Ignacio near the Atlantic, causing a serious pollution.
After the accident, Uruguay's emergency department and navy launched an operation to keep the pollution under control.
Preliminary investigation showed that a crack in a pipeline connecting the tanker and the platform caused the oil spill, the ANCAP said. Source: Xinhua
