Thailand's Election Commission (EC) will announce the official vote results of Sunday's general election on Dec. 25, EC commissioner Apichart Sukhakkhanont said on Monday.

At a press conference held at the EC's headquarters in Bangkok, the commissioner said the delay is a result of minor mistakes in the printing of election data.

Apichart, however, said that the unofficial results that were announced earlier is close to the official result.

The latest unofficial results revealed by EC stated that the People Power Party wins 232 out of 480 seats while its rival the Democrat Party gets 165 seats.

The Chart Thai party has 37, Puea Pandin Party has 25, Ruam JaiThai Chart Pattana Party gets nine, Matchimathipataya Party has seven and Pracharaj Party has five seats.
