Afghan forces killed three Taliban insurgents including their group commander in Afghanistan's central Ghazni province, provincial police chief said Monday.
"Three rebels including their commander Mullah Alam were killed in Gilan district Sunday when they came in contact with government troops," Khan Mohammad Mujahid told Xinhua.
The clash took place in the wake of abduction of seven passengers by Taliban militants and murdering them.
Taliban insurgents, according to police, abducted seven passengers on Kabul-Kandahar highway last week and killed them on charge of working for the government.
Police in Ghazni found the bodies of the abducted passengers onSunday and are trying to arrest and punish those responsible for the execution of the ill-fated civilian passengers.
Conflicts and Taliban-related violence have claimed the lives of more than 6,000 people so far this year in Afghanistan. Source: Xinhua
