Since some candidates who contested Sunday's general election reportedly have cheated and would be issued with red or yellow disqualification cards in a few days, by-elections in constituencies will be held on January 13, Thailand 's Election Commission (EC) chairman Apichart Sukhagganond said Monday.

He said by-elections is very like to happen since some frauds are reportedly obvious.

Apichart said the by-elections will be held on Jan. 13 and the entire process could be finished within 30 days since Dec. 23's general election. He said the EC is ready to hold the by-elections.

Speaking to journalists while inspecting election ballot counting by EC officials, Apichart said the public is awaiting announcement of the official results of the general election and that the EC would, from Tuesday, begin considering complaints of possible frauds.
