Egypt vowed here Wednesday that it confronts all violations and every act that could complicate the country's ties with the Palestinians and Israel.

Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit made the remarks at a press conference on Egypt's foreign policies on its relations with important regional and world countries.

Abul Gheit told the reporters that Egypt allows for humanitarian reasons Palestinian families and individuals to cross the borders to the Palestinian territories and hopes that Israel and the European Union would respond with such stances in order to reach new understandings in this respect.

He, meanwhile, denounced an Israeli campaign against Egypt, saying that it was revealed recently in the stances of some U.S. Congress circles as the Israeli lobby inside the Congress adopted stances which Israel was behind.

The U.S. side has a responsibility to force its vision on the Israeli side, Abul Gheit stressed.

As for the truce offered by Hamas to Israel, the top Egyptian diplomat said Egypt supports any cooling off between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip and all Israeli measures that lead to the suffering of the Palestinian people are certainly unacceptable.

Abu Gheit said that Egypt should care for Syria's interests as it considers Syria as a basic element of stability in the region.

Asked about Egyptian-Iranian relations, Abul-Gheit said the ties between the two countries are still within the framework of serious and intensive dialogue that aims at reaching a comprehensive understanding of all issues that complicate reaching full diplomatic relations.

The current visit to Egypt by Ali Larijani, the member of the Iranian National Security Council, is a private one as he is being accompanied by his family, Abul-Gheit further explained.

He noted that Iran is a signatory state to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and it should commit to it, while Tehran has the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Abul-Gheit asserted that Egyptian-U.S. relations should be healthy, pointing out that the relations are based on a great deal of understanding and coordination.

He voiced hope that foreign elements would not succeed in harming these relations and asserted that Egypt will foil any attempts to harm these relations.
