A Hamas militant was killed and five others were wounded on Tuesday evening in Israeli artillery shelling on an area east of al-Mughazi refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, medics and witnesses said.
The witnesses said that Israeli army tanks stationed near the borders between central Gaza Strip and Israel fired several artillery shells at a group of militants of the Hamas armed wing, who approached the fence.
Medics at al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza Strip said that Yahia Jabber was killed and five others wounded, two of them are in critical conditions.
Earlier on Tuesday, several Palestinian armed wing, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility for attacking Israeli army vehicles stationed near the borders between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
The armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) also said in a leaflet that its militants fired missiles at an Israeli army patrol stationed in eastern Gaza City.
Israeli Radio reported that Gaza militants attacked Israeli army vehicles in the Gaza Strip, but no injuries were reported.
