A blast was heard near the army base in northwestern Pakistan Monday morning, local TV channel DAWN NEWS reported.

The blast occurred near the army base in Kabal Tehsil of Swat valley in North West Frontier Province where the security forces intensified their offensive against local militants, said the report.

Security forces cordoned the affected area and there was no report of casualties.

The security forces on Sunday moved towards the strongholds of militants after gaining control of several areas, local media reported.

The army started to conduct an operation against local militants in late November in Swat, aiming to clear the district of militants.
