Two Afghans were killed and five others injured in combat between Dutch troops and the Taliban in the southern Afghan province of Uruzgan on Friday, Dutch paper De Volkskrant reported Monday.

Among the victims were one child and three other children were wounded, the newspaper quoted the Dutch Defense Ministry as saying.

There were no reported casualties among Dutch troops, the paper said.

A Dutch armored vehicle was hit by a bomb on Friday morning near Khorma, 10 km north of Tarin Kowt, where Dutch troops are stationed.

The Dutch soldiers were immediately attacked by machine guns and a rocket launcher, and returned fire, the report said, adding the victims were found the following day.

The injured were taken to hospital, the report said.
