The recent spate of natural disasters hitting the Indonesian province of Central Java have left 91 people dead and 74 others seriously injured.

A total of 67 houses collapsed, 661 seriously damaged, and 2,663 others lightly damaged in the natural disasters between Dec. 17, 2007 and Jan. 7, 2008, Antara news agency Tuesday quoted chief of the Central Java Mitigation Task Force Achmad Rofai as saying.

The natural disasters included floods, landslides and whirlwinds, Achmad Rofai said on Monday.

Meanwhile, at least 29,048.75 hectares of paddies in 17 districts in Central Java have been under flood waters since late December 2007, causing farmers to suffer enormous losses, a provincial legislator said.

It was reported that as per Jan. 2, 2008 some 288.29 hectares of paddy fields in the province will fail to yield due to floods.
