Spanish police have found a cache of detonators and bomb-making materials with the help of a map found on a Basque separatist suspect arrested last week, Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said Monday.
Police were searching the hiding place and would release more details Tuesday, he added.
Two men identified as Igor Portu Jaurarena and Martin Sarasola, were arrested last week on a highway close to Arrasate, a town in the Basque region of Guipuzcoa. They were carrying two cellophane-wrapped pistols that appeared to have been issued recently.
Portu and Sarasola are both residents of Lesaka, in northern Spain's Navarra region.
ETA, which stands for Basque Homeland and Freedom, has killed more than 800 people in four decades of armed struggle for an independent Basque country in northern Spain and southwestern France.
In December 2006, a bomb attack carried out by ETA on Madrid's main airport killed two people. In a shooting late last year, ETA members killed two Spanish police trailing Basque separatist suspects in France. Source: Xinhua
