A minister of the Sri Lankan government and another five civilians were injured Tuesday in a bomb blast on a busy highway leading to the Colombo international airport in the capital's suburb of Jaela, police said.

Minister of Nation Building DM Dassanayake was slightly injured as the claymore mine targeting his motorcade exploded around 10.35 a.m. local time (0505 GMT), military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara told reporters.
