No casualties in bomb blast in Sri Lankan capital |

No casualties were reported in the bomb blast that rocked the Sri Lankan capital Colombo Tuesday evening, police said.
The bomb exploded in Colombo Central Fort area opposite to the government newspaper publisher Lake House adjoining the popular cinema hall Regal at around 7:30 p.m. local time (1400 GMT), police said.
Sources said chief of the Sri Lanka Airforce Air Marshal Roshan Goonetileke had passed the explosion site a few minutes before the blast.
The bomb had been kept in a telephone box near the Regent Flats, police sources said. The police conducted a search operation in the area where several vital government institutions are located.
The official residence of President Mahinda Rajapakse, the Army and Airforce headquarters and the Colombo Port are all located in close proximity to the bomb site.
This was the second bomb attack in the day. A claymore mine attack on the motorcade of Nation Building Minister DM Dassanayake killed the minister and one of his security personnel and inured 12 more earlier in the day.
The explosions came as the government early this week announced the unilateral abrogation of the Norwegian backed cease-fire with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
