Chief negotiators for the six-party talks of South Korea and the United States on Tuesday called for an early resumption of the nuclear talks after their meeting in Seoul.

Following a 90-minute talks with U.S. chief nuclear negotiator Christopher Hill, South Korean chief nuclear negotiator Chun Yung-woo said the two sides shared consensus over an early resumption of the six-party talks.

"You can't rule out the possibility of the talks being held in January," Chun said.

Hill arrived here on Tuesday and plans to meet with South Korean officials including President-elect Lee Myung-bak.
