Bolivian President Evo Morales and nine regional governors on Monday agreed to review the new constitution, according to news report on Tuesday.
The agreement came after the officials held an 11-hour overnight meeting that lasted into Tuesday. The participants agreed to find a way to prevent a split and end the ongoing political crisis.
In December, five of Bolivia's nine provinces -- Santa Cruz, Tarija, Pando, Beni and Cochabamba -- declared autonomous in protest of a new constitution which they said had been forced through without opposition participation.
Juan Quintana, the presidency minister, told the media in Bolivia's legislative capital of La Paz that the meeting is "fruitful."
"The people want to see us stay together," Morales said, "Let's work together to resolve our differences."
The two sides will meet again to discuss the issue next Monday.
Quintana said that any agreement reached at the meeting must be ratified nationwide with the participation of other social forces.
"We hope to continue weaving a grand national accord with all social sectors and that is why we are working with the governors," he added. Source:Xinhua
