New Mexico governor Bill Richardson is considering to quit U.S. Democratic presidential nomination race after poor performance in first two key contests, according to wire and TV reports.
Richardson, 60, served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and energy secretary in the Clinton administration, drew 5 percent of the vote in Tuesday's New Hampshire primary and 2 percent in last week's Iowa caucuses, far behind leading Democrats Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards.
"The numbers are the reason --not enough votes and not enough money," a Democratic strategist close to Richardson's campaign told CNN.
AP also had a similar report.
However, Katie Roberts, deputy communication director for Richardson's campaign, denied the report to MSNBC.
However, analysts said after the two key contests in Iowa and New Hampshire, it is only a matter of when to quit for candidates who did poorly in the two contests like Richardson.
